NEWTOWN ANGELS
Written by Dennis O’Neill
The Angels waited
with patience and calm, their new arrivals were soon coming home. One by one, they could see for miles, as they
knew their new arrivals would give them all smiles. The children and teachers ran their race and
now they will rest in God’s gentle grace.
Twenty little children from Newtown would sing and joy to heaven these
little ones will bring. Six adults will
join in too; their chorus would add a heavenly hue.
Their hearts are
now open and eyes so wide, their voices will sing God’s lullaby. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, they all will sing,
and joy to heaven they all will bring.
They will meet
their new friends and together they will live, in a chorus of songs repeatedly
give. No more tears and no more fears,
they will delightfully say, as they walk toward the Angels who cheered them this
day.
With anticipated
joy, the children would chime, our teachers taught us well, and they spent the
time. The Angels will applaud with
boisterous joy, as the names are read of each little girl and each little boy.
Their teachers are
close by and joining in too, as their names were being read the children
shouted, “We love you.” With eyes
brightly open, and hearts aglow these children and teachers are welcomed to the
fold. Happy are the days from this
moment on, they are home with God, they are tucked in His arms.
Lights shining
brightly with no room for gloom, their talents and creations, for us, will
forever bloom. We who love them will see
them again; all these little ones are now God’s gem. Even in tragedy, love can
be found. These twenty-six souls with us
are forever bound.
